Volkswagen Australia has launched two new all-wheel drive Golf Wagon variants in Canberra this week.
First up we have the performance focused Volkswagen Golf R Wagon which blends performance motoring with the practicality of a wagon at an affordable price.
The Golf Wagon R will be sold as a special edition with Volkswagen Australia securing around 300 cars.
The Golf Wagon R is priced from $58,990 and comes with Volkswagen’s 206kW TSI engine and 4Motion all-wheel-drive. The Golf R is perfect for the family who needs the practicality of the wagon but still wants to experience the joys of performance motoring.
The Golf Wagon R rides 20mm lower than a standard Golf Wagon and receives additional R body kit and wheels.
The Golf R Wagon 206kW engine is matched to a 6-speed DSG transmission and performs the 0-100km/h sprint in just 5.2 seconds, with fuel consumption a just 7.2L/100km.

The second wagon to hit our shores is the more practical lifestyle focused Golf Wagon Alltrack. The Alltrack offers extra ground clearance, matched with Volkswagen 4motion all wheel drive system and rugged looks.
The Golf Wagon Allrack shares the same all-wheel drive system as the performance based Golf R wagon the Alltrack has a higher ground clearance coupled with a 1.8 litre petrol engine that makes it perfect for the family who loves the great outdoors. The Golf Alltrack is priced form $37,990.
Riding 20mm higher than a standard Golf Wagon the Alltrack receives the rugged makeover with a distinctive design that adds black wheel arch mouldings, flared side sills and newly designed bumpers.
The 1.8litre engine is matched to a 6-speed DSG transmission and can cover the 0-100km/h sprint in 7.8 seconds and consumes a claimed 6.7l/100km.
The Alltrack is perfect for those looking for a mid-sized SUV but need the additional space of a wagon.
