2014 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 5D HATCHBACK GTI PERFORMANCE
I'm resident in the UK where we can buy the manual 6 speed version. My previous car was a 2013 Audi Sportback A3 1.8TFSI S Tronic S-Line The reason I bought a VW golf GTI Performance Package was that, having had a test drive, the VW Golf GTI has proven to be of equal build quality, a better ride and comes with far more equipment as standard. Plus the level of sound insulation surpasses the Audi A3 S-Line.
If the Audi A3 had been able to matched the Golf for equipment, body design and cache that the Audi branding delivers I would have gladly paid the difference in price.
My Golf would appear to draw more attention from other drivers than the A3 ever managed causing young Ford Focus ST and the odd BMW owners draw me into a few traffic light Grand Prix face-offs. However, knowing that the GTI Performance with its 230 BHP on tap would be quite capable of seeing them blush when a 37 Y.O. woman driver walked all over them continues to amuse and please me.
Overall, the Golf GTI is proving to be everything and more that would have expected from my Audi A3. But I am not the only person in my family to express their liking for the Volkswagen. My fifteen Y.O. niece has noticed the more supple suspension, the better sound insulation and higher levels of interior appointments and features offered. If buying a Volkswagen is seen as going down market then so be It. But I am living proof that this is not a step down, rather its a step across and a gain in value for money.
To sum up, the Volkswagen Golf GTI with the Performance Pack is not to be seen as the A3's poor relation. It's just as good a quality product as the Audi A3 but when it comes to more bang for your bucks the GTI scored a points win.

2013 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 5D HATCHBACK 90 TSI TRENDLINE
My Mark 7 Golf is not quiet; it suffers road roar like an old 70”s station wagon. I bought this car because everybody in the media raved about this car. I am referring to road noise that is being transmitted into the car either by lack of insulation or/and being transmitted by suspension mounts. The tyres fitted by VW are not consistant with quite and smooth driving for Australian conditions.
The engine and gearbox are as smooth as silk while the steering is a joy to use. The rest of the car is fantastic; the equipment, seating and quality of finish. It’s just a shame on VW to let this car down with the road noise.
Maybe VW ripped all the insulation out and sourced the cheapest nastiest tyres they can find for the oz market?
I bought a 2013 Polo at the same and I am having noise issues with this too.

2012 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 5D HATCHBACK GTD
As much as I would love to write a review, I hav'n't a bloody car to review.
The GTD will be my third Golf, the first two also being 2L TDI's.
Placed the order last October but yet to see the car.
If you want a real VW experience, Phone VW customer service...The buggers will put you on 'hold' and play Wagner in your ear for 15 minutes.
If I wasn't in love with the car I'd be very cross!

2010 VOLKSWAGEN GOLF 5D HATCHBACK GTI
The Golf GTi demonstrates Volkswagen perfectly, value for money, powerful(not overly powerful but it has more power then you will need in Australia), economical, safe, reliable and handles better than any other rivals. The Golf GTi is awsome its a sports car that is practical and not overly expensive. It's incredible well built and has awsome fuel economy. I strongly recomend this car to anyone who wants a fast, agile and light car that has the grunt and handling of a sports car and the price and practically of a normal everyday car.
