Model set to be marketed globally.
French carmaker Renault has partially-lifted the veil around its upcoming model, an SUV-coupe that is so on the pulse of current trends that it’ll likely fly out of showrooms. We first got wind of this car a while back, and some things have changed since the model first made its media rounds.
For starters, the new model’s been confirmed to be debuting at the Moscow International Motor Show, which begins on the 29th of August. Secondly, Renault’s confirmed that the new model will be a compact-ish crossover that’s larger than a Captur but smaller than a Koleos. And they’ve also given it a name: Arkana.
The Renault Arkana has also been clarified to be a global model, something we didn’t expect. The Arkana is expected to be built off the bones of the Russian-market Renault Kaptur, which is broadly similar to the Captur we might be more familiar with, albeit larger and sporting more off-road capable powertrains. This, we reckon, is a great move by Renault: SUV-coupes are very much the in-thing today, and there’s every likelihood that the Arkana will drastically improve the brands’ foothold in various markets around the globe.
Additionally, Renault’s recent design aesthetic means that the Arkana will likely be one hell of a looker when it lands in showrooms next year, while the show car set to debut next week will likely dictate which salivating markets will receive it.
We’re delighted to see Renault’s return to form, with the Arkana signifying another step in the right direction in the brand’s efforts to improve its marketshare and relevance in the automotive sphere. With clearly-defined roles for all parties within the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, we’re excited to see what might be next for the brand, and how it’ll move the industry along going forwards.
