The actual debut of this car, the successor to the first-generation CLS Class that launched in 2005 and one of the earliest modern day interpretations of the premium four-door coupe, is scheduled for the 29th of November - just a couple of days away. But with that in mind, the blanks left behind by the various spy photographs, renders, and now official pictorial peeks mean that it’s relatively easy to piece the final car together.

A short video demonstrates the CLS’ newfound strides in design, wearing a deep red exterior finish and sporting a front and rear fascia that should resemble many more recent Benz products. The tail lights, particularly, look cut from the same cloth as the current C-Class Coupe as does the angle of its roofline, while the headlamps and grille arrangement remind us of the Concept A-Class.

Speaking of its silhouette, the all-new CLS four-door coupe looks to have a kept much of its original proportions, though the wheels themselves have looked to be pushed more toward its edges, indicating a roomier interior in line with the wheelbase extension.

Like the W213 E-Class on which it’s based, the CLS will be built upon the new modular MRA platform, one that it also shares with the C-Class and S-Class. While the range of engines have yet to be confirmed, it motors themselves shouldn’t differ greatly from the established range of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines used in their current portfolio.

Supposedly, the CLS will also be the first recipient of Mercedes-Benz’s new line of straight-six petrol engines that, depending on need, will either be fitted with a turbocharger or supercharger. In the high performance AMG version, though, the CLS is suspected to be powered by a hybrid powertrain that’s broadly related to system used in the even faster Mercedes-AMG GT4, which would marry the electrified portion with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 in a car roughly akin to the CLS.

The stage is set for the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLS to debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show on the 29th. Following this unveil, deliveries are slated to start around mid-2018.
