Rounding out the current available range is the twin turbo petrol V8 that produces 330kW/650Nm. The 2015 X6 50i produces 30kW/50Nm more than predecessor and can sprint from 0-100kmh in just 4.8 seconds. Fuel consumption is down 22% from 12.5l/100km to only 9.7l/100km – good luck trying to achieve that figure in this beast.
Each of the engines are matched to a standard eight-speed automatic transmission.

BMW X6 On The Road
At the national launch of the updated 2015 BMW X6 CarShowroom.com.au had the opportunity to jump behind the wheel of the BMW X6 xDrive 30d.
We drove the X6 from BMW’s head office in Mulgrave out to the Yarra Valley our journey of around 200kms allowed us to sample a mixture of urban and country roads.
The seating position in the X6 are very SUV like with a high seating position giving occupants a commanding view of the road ahead.
With car using 275/40 front and 315/35 rear run-flat tyres and the adaptive M suspension set to ‘Sport’ on our BMW X6 xDrive destroyed the fast flowing road and ate up kilometer after kilometer. We did notice that the car crashed over pot holes when set to Sport but it gripped the road like 4-series more so than a 2.1 tonne SUV.
With the car set to comfort or eco pro mode the suspension offers occupants a plush ride and the BMW X6 becomes a gentle giant that could cruise from Melbourne to Sydney with ease.
BMW X6 Issues
The major problems people will have with X6 is its styling. Rear adult passengers will be cramped.
BMW X6 Competition
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. After the success of the X6, Audi and Mercedes-Benz both have large SUV coupe cross-overs in the works.
Until they arrive downunder the BMW X6 is really in a class of its own.
BMW X6 Verdict
If you require a large SUV but don’t require the practicality of a traditional SUV the BMW X6 stills offers a level sophistication, luxury and elegance that comes with a European badge.
We love the styling of the X6 and think that it delivers a presence like few other cars can on the road.
If you want to standout from the crowd then the BWW X6 might just be the answer to the question you have never asked yourself.
