More power, better fuel economy and freshened styling highlight the updated BMW X6 raneg which kicks-off at $115,400 (xDrive 30d).
BMW has launched with xDrive 30d, xDrive50i and M50d with the xDrive35i and xDrive 40d slated to arrive early 2015.
Price rises are minimal but the styling changes and better engines more than compensate.
For example, luggage capacity – a source of criticism for the current model – is up by 75-litres.
Styling sees a wider kidney grille, adaptive LED tail-lights and new-design LED rear lights.
Inside, the updated BMW X6 scores a free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen, Dakota leather and heated front seats while other features to arrive (depending on the model) include adaptive cruise control, parking assist and DAB+ audio.
Underneath, xDrive 50i and M50d models gain air suspension at the rear.
But the biggest stories are under the bonnet.
BMW X6 xDrive 30d sees power and torque up to 190kW/560Nm and combined-cycle fuel consumption down to 6.0l/100kms.
The turbo V8 xDrive50i jumps to 330kW/650Nm with fuel consumption markedly better at 9.7l/100kms.
No changes in output for the ripping M50d (280kW/740Nm) but fuel consumption is slashed to 6.6l/100kms.
BMW says across the range, the X6 boasts fuel consumption improvements in the range of 14-22 per-cent – aided by ‘EfficientDynamics’ technology and an improved eight-speed automatic transmission.
The lineup and price so far is:
| xDrive30d | $115,400 |
| xDrive 50i | $151,600 |
| M50d | $157,900 |
