Your www.carshowrom.com.au correspondent has been a frequent visitor to Wolfsburg, Germany, the home of Volkswagen.
Pretty place in parts, especially down by the river but very much “Volkswagen City”.
In fact the ground covered by the roof of the Volkswagen assembly plant is larger than the entire Principality of Monaco! Yep, it’s massive.
So, appropriately, Volkswagen Group Australia has named the terrific limited edition versions of the Golf R hatch and wagon – the ‘Wolfsburg Edition’ (complete with a ‘wolf and castle’ badge).
Boasting extra specifications on top of the standard Golf R model, the ‘Wolfsburg Edition’ adds a choice of three exterior colours including an exclusive ‘Oryx White Pearl’, carbon nappa leather interior with heated front seats, black 19-inch ‘Pretoria’ alloy wheels, black exterior mirrors and roof rails, Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Assist with City Emergency Brake, Blind Spot Monitor with rear cross traffic alert and the proactive occupant protection system.
Of course both the hatch a wagon are r-a-p-i-d German high-performacne machines propelled by Volkswagen 206kW TSI engine and 4Motion all-wheel-drive.
