With combined cycle fuel consumption of 3.8l/100kms, the Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion is more economical than a Toyota Prius – and it goes on-sale in Australia next year.
Volkswagen group Australia will display the Golf BlueMotion at next month’s Australian International Motor Show in Sydney.
Under the bonnet is Volkswagen’s 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine delivering 77kW and 250Nm. Combine that fuel-efficient engine with technology such as Start/Stop, low rolling resistance tyres, brake energy recovery, taller gearing, reduced idle speed, lowered suspension plus lightweight, aerodynamic wheels and the result is the Golf BlueMotion – the most fuel-efficient Golf yet produced.
It’s also clean – exhaust emissions are rated at just 99g/km.
In fact, the Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion was awarded the ‘Green car Of The Year’ at the 2010 World Car Of The Year Awards.
Inside are the usual high standard golf features – highlighted by unique blue trim for the seats.
And there’s no short-changing in the safety stakes – with the normal Golf items like ABS anti-lock brakes, Electronic Stabilization program, Hill Start Assist and seven airbags.
Volkswagen Group Australia will announce full details and pricing closer to next year’s launch.
