The annual ‘World Car Of The Year’ award is handed-out annually at the New York International Auto Show and this year the recipient was the seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf.
The voting jury consists of 66 motoring journalists from 23 countries.
In fact, in making their acceptance speeches, Volkswagen executives have been wearing-out the ‘World Car Of The Year’ in recent years – the current model Golf in 2009, in 2010 it was the turn of the Volkswagen Polo and last year the diminutive Volkswagen Up was ‘gonged’.
The ‘World Car’ title is the 17th major award for the Golf 7 since its launch last November. The latest Golf lineup goes on-sale locally shortly.
