Volkswagen has upped the ante in the fight for the recreational lifestyle car buyer with the launch of the all new 2015 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack in Europe.
Following the well worn path of its larger sibling the Passat Alltrack the Golf Alltrack wagon is due to go on sale in later this year.
First seen at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014, the Golf Alltrack rides 20mm higher and has larger wheels that assist in a high ground clearance than standard Golf Wagon.
The all-wheel drive system is the same unit that is found of the race-inspired Golf R . Underneath VW have added extra amour to protect vital components when travelling off road and even a hill control decent system that can go as slow as 2km/h.
In Europe the Golf Alltrack wagon will come with a choice of three diesel engines a 1.6 TDI 2.0TDI and a high tuned 2.0TDI. However Australian buyers will only be offered a 132kW/240Nm 1.8 petrol engine.
Inside the interior as the usual high standard that buyers have come to expect from Volkswagen. The interior has been carried over from the traditional Golf with a few minor cosmetic tweaks.
Luggage space is very generous at 605 liters with the 60/40 spilt seats in place and jumping to 1620 liters when folded flat.
