The news will further boost Volkswagen in Australia where last month the Golf actually outsold Holden Commodore to be our third best-selling vehicle.

In fact, in the UK, the Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion has already garnered green car of the year awards from the two top-selling weekly automotive magazines Auto Express and What Car?
