Why is it brown?
The Geneva motor show is perhaps one of the biggest deals in the auto industry every year, so it’s quite normal for carmakers to pull out all the stops and make a proper flash-bang show in Switzerland.
Subaru, is no different. After having shown us Viziv concept cars in various forms, from the Performance Concept (in STI and non-STI guises) and even a Viziv-7 Concept, it seems that the Viziv nameplate is far from dead, and has been brought about for a fourth showing, this time bearing the ‘Tourer’ suffix.
With the Viziv-7 having rather accurately previewed the Subaru Ascent 7-seater, there’s no question to our mind that the Viziv Tourer is previewing an upcoming production model. However, while the Viziv Performance and Viziv STI Performance concept cars have been a nod in the general direction of a new WRX and WRX STI, the Viziv Tourer is a little different. For starters, the word ‘Performance’ is missing, suggesting that like the Viziv-7, perhaps this isn’t going to simply be a WRX estate. Instead, it may be previewing a new Levorg.
The Levorg may be based on the WRX and share a lot of its styling with it, but Subaru positions it as a totally different offering, not at all a WRX estate. The WRX’s performance focus always meant a pretty harsh ride (as far as family cars ago) and the Levorg was slightly softer, more liveable in that respect.
Considering that the sole teaser image that Subaru’s released of the Viziv Tourer Concept shows, we’re pretty sure, the hatch of an estate, we’re about 60% sure this is a new Levorg. Guess we’ve just got to wait.
