Korean brand SsangYong continues its fightback with news of a return to the British market.
In Australia, SsangYong sales are up this year by 27 per cent compared to 2010 and leading the charge is the company’s all-new Korando compact SUV.
Likewise in the UK where the handsome Korando will be leading SsangYong’s return, promoted for its European styling (by Italy’s Giugiaro), choice of two-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive and two-tonne towing capacity.
British buyers can also select the SsangYong Rexton CV, a commercial version of SsangYong’s handy Rexton SUV. Otherwise the model lineuop mirrors Australia – Rexton, Korando and Stavic (called Rodius in the UK).
Globally, SsangYong is now majority-owned by India’s Mahindra & Mahindra and the injection of funds has allowed the Korean brand to continue new model development.
