To celebrate 50 years since the first iconic Renault Alpine A 110, the French giant has unveiled a racy sports car concept dubbed, not surprisingly, Alpine A 110-50.
While only a concept at this stage, technical details are juicy with the carbon fibre body covering a mid-mounted 3.5-litre V6 engine delivering 300kW/422Nm and driving the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential manual transmission.
Underneath is a motorsport-derived double wishbone suspension system with Sachs dampers and 21-inch alloy wheels. The 2625mm wheelbase is identical to the Renault Megane Trophy hatchback but the tracks (1680mm front/1690mm rear) are slightly wider.
Tipping the scales at just 880kgs, the Renault Alpine A 110-50 was developed by Renault Sport Technologies and is painted in a new ‘Alpine Blue’ colour which throws back to the famous Renault racing colours of yesteryear.
It’s a bold look with an aerodynamic front end, scissor doors and large 3D clear glass rear window which shows the mid-mounted V6 engine.
Inside are two competition seats with Sabelt racing harnesses and an electronic motorsport dashboard derived from the Formula Renault 3.5 race cars. There are even integral pneumatic jacks for wheel-changing and Wintax4 data logging.
The first Renault Alpine A110 Berlinette debuted at the 1962 Paris Motor Show and this new stunner will take pride of place on the Renault stand in Paris this year.
