General Motor’s German subsidiary Opel has launched its performance OPC range in Australia with prices starting at $28,990 for the Corsa OPC.
For the Opel Astra OPC, prices start at $42,990 and the excellent mid-size Opel Insignia OPC is listed at $59,990.
With a sports bodykit (including a central rear exhaust), lowered sports suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels, the compact Opel Corsa OPC certainly looks the part. Inside are Recaro sports seats.
The Opel Corsa OPC is powered by a 141kW/260Nm turbocharged 1.6-litre engine driving through a six-speed manual transmission.
With 206kW/400Nm from its turbocharged 2.0-lkitre engine, the Opel Astra OPC is the fastest Astra yet, clocking-up zero to 100km/h in 6.0-seconds. Riding on 19-inch alloy wheels and Opel’s FlexRide adaptive chassis system, the Astra OPC gains plenty of kit including Nappa-leather sports front seats with electrically-adjustable side bolsters and lumbar support and a manual extendable cushion for race car-like seating, satellite navigation and a seven-speaker audio system.
And the Opel Isignia OPC goes the ‘whole enchilada’ with a 239kW/435Nm turbocharged 2.8-litre V6 engine, adaptive all-wheel-drive and Nurburgring-developed HiPerStrut suspension which reduces torque steer and maintains negative wheel camber for high-performance driving dynamics. As well there are 19-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels and Brembo front brakes.
Inside are Recaro front seats in Siena leather and a Navi900 audio system with seven speakers and a seven-inch colour screen.
And for 99 cents from Apple’s Australian App Store you can purchase the OPC Power App which contains data in 60 different categories available in real time.
OPC stands for Opel Performance Centre, the company’s German performance affiliate which was established in 1997.
