Many Australian holiday makers in Europe have been impressed by Opel’s Zafira SUV which is a stalwart of many car rental companies – but until now the Zafira has been absent from the local model lineup.
Good news is that’s about to change with confirmation Opel will launch the handsome Zafira locally mid-year.
Power will be provided by either a 1.6-litre petrol engine or a 2.0-litre turbo diesel and it will be fascinating to see how the Zafira will compare with the all-new Kia Rondo which will arrive a but earlier.
Inside, the versatility of the Opel Zafiar’s seating has long been its strong suit: three individual seats in the second row which can be folded and rotated individually and a third-row seat which folds flat to the floor when not in use.
Introduction of the Zafira in Australia is part of Opel’s ambitious global expansion which will see 23 new vehicles and engine arrive by 2016.
“The Zafira Tourer has long been Opel’s flexibility icon,” explained Bill Mott, Opel Australia’s MD. “Whether you’re on duty for the Saturday morning school sports activities or needing to collect guests and their luggage from an airport, the Zafira Tourer provides you the flexibility, seating options and space to be able to do it all, in great style.”
