Mazda has confirmed the world premiere of its all-new BT50 Freestyle four-seat ute will be held at the Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne.
Like the Mazda RX-8 sports car and Toyota’s FJ Cruiser SUV, the great-looking Mazda BT50 Freestyle features rear-opening rear doors to provide pillar-less entry to the rear seat.
With both front and rear doors open, the all-new Mazda BT50 Freestyle ute provides an opening of 1,408mm.
Mazda says the all-new four-seat version of its classy BT50 delivers enhanced rear seat comfort – an extra 50mm of under-thigh support and the actual rear seats are 128mm higher for increased back/shoulder support.
For carrying extra cargo, or to keep things secure, rear seat cushions in the all-new Mazda BT50 Freestyle can be removed. Combine that with the width of the pillar-less entry afforded by those clever rear doors and your certainly get increased versatility.
Mazda says its all-new ute will deliver 1453-litres of cargo volume in the tub – that’s 266-litres up on the current model. In fact the new tub is higher, deeper and wider than the existing Mazda BT50.
Australia is predicted to be the biggest-selling global market for the all-new Mazda BT50. While that means the world launch for the newcomer in Melbourne makes practical sense, the upside is increased international media focus as our new annual national motor show makes its first visit to Melbourne.
The Australian International Motor Show runs 1 – 10 July at Melbourne’s Conference and Exhibition Centre.
