There’s some six other concepts unveiled too, by the way.

Trailcat. Hellcat. We get it. Oh Jeep, you’re so charmingly skilful with your wit.

As we’ve previously reported on, Jeep was set to unveil a total of seven (i.e many) concept vehicles at the 2016 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah.

It’s a particularly special year for the company as it marks their 75th year in existence and it’s been 50 years since the first Jeep Safari. To celebrate, they’ve reveald the Crew Chief 715, the Shortcut, the Renegade Commander, the Comanche, the FC 150, the Trailstorm, and the Trailcat. All of them garnished with Mopar performance part in varying degrees of intensity.

Aside from the lightly modified Renedage Commander and Wrangler-derived Trailstorm, these concept vehicles, as far as we know, aren’t earmarked for production, but if there were ever an addition to their line-up that we’d love to see, it would definitely be the Trailcat.

What they’ve done is take a run-of-the-mill Wrangler and bascially supersized and ruggedised everything. There’s a louder neon green colour, lower windshield, huge wheels, wider arches, a roll bars for a roof, and oh yes, the 707hp (527kW) 6.2-litre supercharged HEMI V8 from the Dodge Challenger Hellcat.

There’s no other performance figures cited, since obviously this is only a concept. It wouldn’t surprise us in the least to know that it’s a fully functioning thing, either. No doubt this will be a riot to drive around, and it’s probably the ultimate hot rod offroader, which is why Jeep should absolutely put it into production.

It wouldn’t be all that difficult, we imagine. That bonkers V8 is the main change, and surely there’s ample space to shoehorn it into an existing Wrangler’s engine bay. Just beef up the suspension and brakes and its good to go.

It’ll sell like crazy. We think.

But let me reiterate that we at CarShowroom have zero professional aptitude when it comes to accurately predicting the viability of an unreleased automobile. Just saying.

We’d just love to see it. And there must be some within Jeep that’s just as giddy to see such a wildly impractical but a full-on crazy/awesome thing to hit the streets, probably with a legal release form to absolve Jeep from any calamity that may result.
