“The most dynamic sports 4x4” is now as well covered as its main rival.

In an announcement, HSV has made public that its first-ever dual-cab ute, the Colorado SportsCat, will be covered by a 5-year/unlimited-mileage warranty to match what’s being offered on its chief rival. However it betters the Ford Ranger Wildtrak by also offering 5-years of roadside assistance which, though better than the Ranger Raptor, merely puts it on par with the general Holden range of cars.

“We’ve been delighted with the level of acceptance of our first foray into the 4x4 pick-up market, and the availability of a five-year warranty with five-years roadside assistance will only further strengthen the vehicle’s appeal.” — Tim Jackson, Managing Director, Holden Special Vehicles (HSV)

Dubbed by HSV as “the most dynamic sports 4x4 on the market,” the SportsCat doesn’t actually bear any changes to its mechanicals. So the two variants of the HSV Colorado (SportsCat and SportsCat+) both use the same, familiar 2.8-litre Duramax turbodiesel from the cooking Colorado, producing 147kW and 500Nm, sending power to all four wheels through a six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic.

The SportsCat aims to be visually bolder and more dynamically capable. On the former subject, there are 18-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in Cooper Zeon LTZ Pro all-terrain rubbers, along with a 45mm raised ride height. There’s a unique fascia and grille, completed with LED fog lights, while the rest of the car gets unique wheel arch flares, a unique sports-bar, and a tailgate appliqué that screams ‘Colorado’ (no really, it does).

The cabin of the Colorado SportsCat gets SV Sports seats, trimmed in a combination of (Jasmine) leather and (Windsor) suede, which has also been applied to the dashboard. There are also HSV-branded carpets, replete with red contrast stitching.AP Racing brakes come as standard, with 4-pot callipers up front biting on 362mm rotors. Also standard are the inclusion of an HSV sports suspension setup, along with a limited-slip differential. The SportsCat+ gets things like SupaShock absorbers and a decoupling rear sway bar, that can be engaged for better cornering performance (namely less body roll) or disengaged for improved off-road performance (greater wheel articulation, mostly).

The SportsCat+ also gets a sail pane as standard, which like the SupaShock abosrbers, can be added to the standard SportsCat for an additional $1300 (the absorbers are $3600). Further options include the automatic transmission we mentioned earlier ($2200), along with a tub liner ($300), prestige paint ($550), load master ($795), eye bolt ($75), and roof rails ($647).

The 2018 HSV Colorado SportsCat and SportsCat+ are available now for $60,790 and $66,790 respectively, though an additional $2200 will be commanded for those wanting an automatic transmission.
