Renault has joined the growing market for all-electric compact city cars, debuting in Geneva it’s good-looking ZOE.
Renault says the ZOE is the first electric vehicle to offer an homologated range between battery re-charges of more than 200kms and owners can expect an every-day city driving range between 100kms and 150kms.
In addition, the French giant is rolling out a new re-charging system claimed to be up to four times cheaper than existing arrangements. The Renault ZOE can be re-charged from any power in as little as 30 minutes.
There’s also a new, more efficient regenerative braking system and new Michelin Energy E-V tyres.
The synchronous electric motor (powered by lithium ion batteries) delivers 65kW/220Nm and because of its silent running, an automatic system detects pedestrians and the car emits an audible warning (the driver can select from three different types of sounds).
Measuring 4084mm in length, the Renault ZOE is a full-size five-seater like the Nissan LEAF which makes electric car motoring and family practicality a real-world possibility.
