Australia will be receiving the ultra-exclusive 40 Jahre Edition of the BMW 7 Series, a special 200 unit-limited run of G11 luxury limousine. Because of its sheer rarity, there will only be 4 units allocated for customers Down Under, spread over the 740i, 750i, and M760i xDrive.
For Australia, the breakdown is such that there will be two units of the 740i reaching our shores and the remaining two being split between the 750i and M760i xDrive. Prices will start $267,500 and will dress the donor car with exclusive trim and near-bespoke additions to justify the some $40,000 price gap.
This special edition 7 Series was announced last month to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the BMW flagship. Each unit bound for sale here will be finished in Frozen Silver Metallic and ride on 20-inch V-spoke light alloy wheels, both sources from the BMW Individual catalogue.
Inside, the seats upholstery is switched to fine grain Merino leather finished in a dual tone of Smoke White and Black, unique headrest stitching and an Alcatara headliner, also in Smoke White. Elsewhere in the cabin there’s a wider splashing of Piano Black trim and yet more flourishes of the ‘7 40 Jahre’ signet.
There are no mechanical alterations to speak of, meaning the 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-6 with 240kW/450Nm powers the 740i, meanwhile a 330kW/650Nm 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 and 448kW/800Nm 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 power the 750i and M760i xDrive respectively.
