“Top ratings show brands are keeping pace with increasing standards.”
New introductions to the Australian market have received stellar safety ratings from independent crash safety authority ANCAP, who have given the Skoda Kodiaq, Audi Q5, Mini Countryman, and Audi Q2 full five-star safety ratings for their impressive active and passive safety features.
The rating for the Kodiaq lines up perfectly with the models’ introduction into our market, and applies to all-wheel drive variants. ANCAP CEO James Goodwin said, “the Kodiaq has been assessed against the latest criteria offering a range of important safety technologies as standard, including autonomous emergency braking, multi-collision braking, and speed limiter.”
The Audi Q5’s rating also arrives as the model debuts on showroom floors, with the 5-star rating applicable to all Q5s, all the way up to the hot SQ5. “A top safety score and impressive array of standard safety features are offered on all Q5 and SQ5 models. It has an advanced autonomous emergency braking system which operates at city and highway speeds, with the added ability to detect and assist in avoiding pedestrians up to a speed of 85km/h,” Goodwin commented.
The Audi Q2, set to take the compact SUV market by storm, holds its safety rating with pride. “This new market entrant [the Q2] in the small-SUV segment is another good example of key safety technologies being provided not just in the luxury, larger-sized end of the market.” The same goes for the Mini Countryman, which adds “the highest level of safety assist features seen from the brand, with autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and a speed sign recognition and warning system,” the CEO concluded.
It’s reassuring to see that manufacturers are paying greater attention to the active and passive safety built into their cars, offering buyers better crash safety protection than ever before.
