Kia has released the first photos of its all-new Rio small car ahead of its global launch at next month’s Geneva Motor Show.
Currently priced locally from $14,990, the Rio will be the next Kia model to showcase the Korean company’s styling turnaround under the direction of German guru Peter Schreyer.
To be sold in three-door, four-door and five-door variants, the latest Rio is again a great-looking Kia and is longer, wider and lower than the current model. Luggage space grows to 390-litres for the sedan and 292-litres for the hatchback.
Kia will sell the Rio in all global markets with engines ranging from a 1.1-litre (52kW) diesel for Europe through to a 1.6-litre (103kW) direct injection petrol engine for North America. A high performance 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine is slated for European launch next year.
Kia Australia has yet to detail the local Rio lineup.
