2016 Mercedes Benz GLS Set for April Launch

Mercedes Benz Australia will launch the 2016 Mercedes Benz GLS in April next year.   With the arrival of the 2016 GLS Mercedes Benz will now have a full suite of SUVs  form the small GLA and the all-new GLC, to the successful GLE and GLE Coupe and the iconic G-Class rounding out the range.

Updated exteriors and interiors features include new headlights whilst at the rear the bumper and tail lights have been redesigned.

Inside there is a newly designed instrument panel with semi-integrated Media Display, a new 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, and the modified centre console with touchpad.

Entry is to the range is via the GLS 350 d, powered by a 3.0L V6 diesel engine, that  produces 190 kW and 620 Nm, and is matched to a 9G-TRONIC transmission.

The  GLS now has COMAND Online navigation, Apple CarPlayTM, an LED Intelligent Light System, DYNAMIC SELECT with 5 driving modes, and 20” 10-Spoke wheels as standard.

Next up is GLS 350 d Sport is powered by the same engine that is found on the entry level but the GSL 350 d Sport receives a AMG Line Exterior pack, ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM with active roll stabilisation, Tyre pressure monitoring system and metallic paint as standard.

Also new standard for the 2016 edition is Nappa Leather, an AMG Line Interior and 21” AMG wheels.

Next up is the powerful GLS 500 that produces 335kW and 700Nm from its 4.7L V8 engine. Over and above the GLS 350 d models, the GLS 500 adds panoramic glass electric sunroof, Luxury Front Seats with heating and ventilation, Heated second row seats, an Anti-theft protection package and a Digital TV tuner.

Sitting at the top of the range is the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 that produces 430 kW of power and 760 Nm of torque from its 5.5L V8.

The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 can accelerating from 0-100km/h in a blistering 4.6 seconds. IN addition to what can be found the GLS 500 the AMG version also receives AMG Driver’s package (top speed increased to 270 kph), 4MATIC all-wheel drive with 40:60 rear bias, DYNAMIC SELECT including Sport+ driving mode, 22” AMG Wheels, AMG Sports Suspension, an AMG High Performance Brake system, Power closing doors and an AIR-BALANCE package.

Expect to see these around private schools in the not to distance future.
