This is the new Bentley Mulsanne Speed, the world’s fastest ultra-luxury sedan which will be unveiled in a couple of weeks at the Paris Motor Show.
With its twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre V8 engine re-engineered to deliver 395kW/1,100Nm (available from as low as 1750rpm), zero to 100km/h is covered in just 4.9 seconds.
And with that awesome performance (a top speed of 305km/h), incredibly, Bentley has also delivered more efficiency – cylinder deactivation means the V8 runs as a V4 on light throttle loads, achieving 13 per-cent better fuel consumption which translates to an extra 80kms of range between refills.
As part of the package, Bentley has also overhauled the transmission which now includes an ‘S’ mode which keeps the engine speed above 2000rpm for instantaneous response from the twin turbochargers.
And there’s a driver-selectable ‘Sport’ mode for the suspension which stiffens the air suspension and adjusts steering dynamics.
Styling too is unique, highlighted by dark tinting for the exterior stainless steel grille and vents as well as the tail-lights and 21-inch directional (specific left and right-hand-side) alloy wheels.
And inside is a unique version of the Mulliner Driving Standard specifications including handcrafted carbon-fibre inlays. You can choose from 24 hide colours for the interior leather.
