Filling an obvious gap in the Lexus lineup comes news of an LF Coupe (in concept form) to debut at the Paris Motor Show.
‘Obvious’ because major rivals, the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class both have coupe variants.
The car to be displayed in Paris is said to be virtually a production car and Lexus has confirmed the LF coupe will join its model lineup in the future.
Looks are an evolution of the LF-LC concept from the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, but the big news is under the bonnet – a new 2.5-litre, four-cylinder Atkinson Cycle direct injection hybrid powerplant which drives the rear wheels.
While keeping coy about the actual figures, Lexus says, with 1.47kW of power produced per gram of C02 and with C02 emissions targeted below 100g/km, the new LF Coupe will be the most energy-efficient vehicle in its segment.
