Some new images have emerged from German automotive juggernaut Volkswagen that give us a clearer look at the pickup’s exterior and, crucially, our first look at the final interior – we’ve only had sketches to satisfy our curiosity until now.
Expectations were high for the next-generation Amarok and from the looks of it Volkswagen delivered another high quality interior, replete with solid but premium-feeling material choices, electrically adjustable ergoComfort front seats, a touchscreen infotainment system, nappa leather with aluminium accents.
Overall it looks like an interior that would even be at home on a Volkswagen passenger car and not a ute, which should give the Ford Ranger Titanium (which we recently reviewed) a good run for cabin comfort and feel.
The interior we see here is top spec variant, called Aventura, which is also been fitted with stainless steel pedals and a colour display in between tachometer and speedometer.
The 2017 Volkswagen Amarok should be arriving on Australian shores somewhere towards the end of 2016 with an introduction of a new engine to accompany the 2.0TDI carried over from the current model.
While that four-pot will likely power the lower to mid-level variants, the new top-end Amarok would receive the recently announced 165kW/550Nm 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel that’s mated to an eight-speed automatic and 4Motion AWD system. We’ll hear more about the exact specifications as the Amarok reaches showrooms globally.
