Volkswagen Australia Reveals All-New Tiguan Pricing

Volkswagen Australia has now confirmed the pricing for the new second-generation Tiguan SUV that’s due to make its Australian entrance in September. With a starting price of $31,990, the all-new version will arrive roughly $2,000 cheaper than the equivalent variant from the previous model.

That base price buys the new Tiguan with the Trendline spec with a manual transmission (6-speed DSG is a $2,500 extra), powered by a 1.4-litre four-cylinder TSI turbocharged petrol engine generating 110kW which sends drive to the front wheels.

VW has been generous with standard equipment, fitting even the entry Tiguan with an 8-inch Composition Media infotainment system with App-connect USB interface, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, rear-view camera, cruise control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED tail lamps, City Emergency Brake, Lane Assist, tyre pressure monitoring, Park Assist, and 17-inch alloys.

The Tiguan Comfortline, starting from $36,990, is the model most people will likely select because of it’s balance in luxuries and price. You’d get all the accoutrements from the Trendline, but with the option of the 132kW TSI petrol engine and a 110kW TDI diesel mill, a standard six or seven-speed DSG transmission and Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

In addition to the extra grip and added engine choices, the Comfortline gains 3-zone climate control air conditioning, satellite navigation, colour multi-function display, folding table on front seat backrests, front fog lights, carpet floor mats, extended roof storage console, luggage floor net, chrome roof rails, chrome window surrounds and painted bumper inserts and a storage drawer under the front seats.

Finally, there’s the Tiguan Highline. It starts at $48,490 and can be had with either a 140kW TDI diesel or 162kW TSI petrol that are both mated to a standard seven-speed DSG transmission. For the extra money, 18-inch alloys come standard, as does LED headlamps, dynamic cornering lights, keyless entry, electronically-operated tailgate, 8-inch Discover Pro satellite navigation system, Vienna leather upholstery, heated and electrically adjustable sport front seats, and paddle shifters.

Buyers of the new Tiguan Comfortline or Highline can also choose from several optional packages offered by Volkswagen. Thing kicks off with the Luxury Package at an extra $5,000 for the Comfortline, adding Vienna leather upholstery, electronically adjustable and heated front seats, power-folding door mirrors, keyless entry, electronic tailgate and a panoramic sunroof.

For an extra $2,000 over the Comfortline or Highline, the Driver Assitance package adds Adaptive Cruise Control, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, Active Info display, power folding door mirrors and Area View.

The R-Line Package, exclusive to the Tiguan Highline, can be specified for $4,000 and adds adaptive chassis control and progressive steering improve driving dynamics and enjoyment along with various sporty cosmetic upgrades such as 20-inch wheels, an R-Line body kit, and R-Line interior trim.
