Updated Peugeot 508 Due in February 2015

The mid life update of the Peugeot 508 has just been launched in Mallorca, Spain. The Peugeot 508 has had in excess of 370,000 sales worldwide.

When the Peugeot 508 arrives downunder buyers can expect a subtly updated exterior, more efficient Euro VI engines, new driver technology and price point similar to the outgoing model.

The updated Peugeot 508 will be arriving in Australia from February 2015, Peugeot’s Australian spokesperson Dimitri Andreatidis told CarShowroom.com.au “Peugeot Australia are in the middle of discussions with Peugeot head office in France and hope to lock down local pricing and specifications by the middle of November”.

Without divulging too much information at the international launch Andreatidis suggested that current variants line-ups and pricing would continue “buyers can expect better equipped cars with more bang for their buck than what the current models have” he said.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Australian buyers will be offered petrol and diesel engines, matched exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission in both sedan and touring body styles. Those looking for a manual will need to look elsewhere.

The 2015 Peugeot 508 sees the introduction of new driver assistance aids like Blind Spot sensors, reversing camera and a new 7” touch screen that has allowed the designers to remove almost all of the center console buttons.

The face lifted Peugeot has had nip and a tuck, which sees its length increased by 38mm for the sedan, 16mm of which is in the front overhang (the same for touring) and 22mm for the rear overhang on the sedan.

The Peugeot 508 is the first Peugeot to receive the new vertical family grille that will be seen on all future models, including the all-new 308 launched later this month.

Top spec’d model in Europe receive full LED lighting package meaning headlamps, daytime running lamps, direction indicators, foglamps are all LED.

Peugeot hasn’t made any changes to the suspension and steering, which it felt where already class leading.
