Toyota used the New York International Auto Show to stage the global debut of the all-new Kluger seven-seat SUV (‘Highlander’ in North America).
The all-new Kluger certainly adopts a tougher style with a bold front-end, bulging wheel-arches and a thick waistline.
Toyota says the extra dimensions deliver more cargo and passenger space, including easier access to the third seating row.
Expect local versions to employ and updated version of the current 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine and a six-speed automatic transmission – although Toyota being Toyota we wouldn’t yet rule-out the petrol-electric hybrid version also being in the Australian lineup as well as North America.
Like the current model, Toyota’s all-new Kluger will be offered in model-specific 2WD and AWD (the latter Toyota’s new Dynamic-All-Wheel-Drive system).
We’re told the all-new Kluger may not quite arrive before the end of this year – early 2014 is more likely.
