Tesla has released its latest software update for the Tesla Model S. The 7.0 software update has an array of new features including autopilot functionality
Tesla has also updated the look and layout of the instrument panel with real time information updates and easier to read graphics. Drivers are now receiving information for lane departure, blind spot detection, speed assist, collision warning, adaptive cruise, and autosteer.
The Autosteer is a beta mode update that helps keep the car in the lane and uses adaptive cruise to help maintain safe distance between the car in front. Autosteer uses steering angle, steering rate and speed to determine what level of assistance the driver requires.
The new Auto Lane change feature is activated when the driver indicates to change lands the Model S will automatically move if safe to do so.
On the safety front Tesla has added Automatic Emergency Steering and Side Collision Warning that indicates on the new instrument panel that there are objects too close to the side of the Model S and the driver should take correct evasive action.
The final update was a new Autopark function that allows the Tesla Model S to parallel park itself. When driving at low speed a “P” will appear on the instrument cluster when a parking spot is located. Via the touch screen a driver can choose to activate auto park where the car automatically controls the steering wheel and vehicle speed to park itself.
We hope to review the Tesla Model S with the new 7.0 software update in Australia over the coming weeks.
