Subaru’s XV compact SUV made its global debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Powered by a 110kW/196Nm naturally aspirated version of Subaru’s 2.0-litre ‘Boxer’ engine, and driving through either a manual or CVT automatic transmission and Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, the Subaru XV returns fuel consumption as low as 6.6l/100kms and provides a towing capacity of 1600kgs.
The XV is a much sharper-looking styling job than recent Subarus and that clever design provides handy interior space despite its relatively compact dimensions (overall length 4.45-metres, wheelbase 2.635-metres). Wheels are 17-inch alloy.
Subaru says the forward design of the A-pillars and smart exterior rear-view mirrors create excellent visibility and inside there is a new multi-function display, new seats designed to minimize vibrations and child seat mounting points in the rear seats allow for maximum cargo space even with youngsters on board.
Subaru Australia will announce Australian plans for the Subaru XV shortly.
