Subaru Unveils Viziv Tourer Concept

We’re struggling to stay awake.

2018 Subaru Viziv Tourer Concept – Geneva Motor Show

If you believe it, Japanese carmaker Subaru first churned out a concept car under the ‘VIZIV’ nameplate back in 2013. Since then, there have been various permutations of that concept taking up all kinds of forms, from hatchbacks to saloons to SUVs, all tipped to showcase the firm’s future design language either inside or out (or both), with not much else to note besides.

And we’re rather disappointed (though unsurprised) to report that it’s yet another case of same-old-same-old with the new Viziv Tourer concept, which most likely previews an incoming new-generation Levorg estate. The design is striking and distinctive to say the least, though we know damned well that when it comes to Subaru, precious little of the concept’s design will be carried through into production.

You’ll get hints, sure. But nothing more.

Predictably, Subaru says that the Viziv Tourer “unites a Symmetrical AWD layout powered by a boxer engine,” as if they haven’t been doing that combo since the ice age. The rather brief notes associated with the release of the Viziv Tourer include mention of a “next-generation EyeSight system” that aims “to reduce driver fatigue.” So… advanced driver assistance with some degree of driving automation, then.

For those interested, the Viziv Tourer measures up at 4755mm in length, 1930mm in width, and just 1435mm in height, riding on a wheelbase that’s 2730mm long. The Viziv Tourer rides on 20-inch alloys, and has seating for four. If we can find anything else interesting to say, we’ll be sure to update this article (don’t hold your breath).
