The Subaru BRZ coupe, in following of the updated Toyota 86, has received some revisions for the 2017 model year, adding in an improved list of standard equipment, a slightly gutsier output from the same flat-four engine, and a reduced price.
Subaru Australia Managing Director, Colin Christie, said: “BRZ is an even more compelling package when you consider the upgrades to specification at less cost to customers.Despite exchange rate pressures, our strong relationship with the factory has produced a great result for BRZ fans and that’s reflected in the volume of showroom interest since we teased the specification upgrades in August.”
Subaru Australia says that the BRZ will, starting with the newly revised model that’s arriving at the end of November, be priced from $32,990, a reduction of $1,230 over the previous MY2016 model. That’s for the manual, of course, and the automatic version is $1,735 less expensive than the car it’s replacing.
In contrast to natural order of more equals more, the 2017 Subaru BRZ adds LED headlights and taillights, new bumper design for a more aggressive stance, new 17-inch alloy wheels, a new TRACK mode in the selectable Vehicle Dynamics Control knob, hill start assist, fully automatic air conditioning, new steering wheel design, an enhanced set of instrument gauges, and an upgraded infotainment system.
Under the bonnet, the BRZ’s 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-four Boxer engine has had some work done on it, letting it breathe easier and now able to extract 152kW (up from 147kW) and 212Nm (up from 205Nm).
