Subaru has finally taken the covers off the Advanced Tourer Concept (ATC) – at Tokyo Motor Show.
With its striking look the ATC points to the future direction of design and technology for the Japanese brand. Peel back the concept gullwing doors massive rims and you are left with a 1.6 litre turbo engine which includes direct fuel injection and showcases technology that will guide the brand’s future engine strategy.
A single motor hybrid system is used for its simple structure and light weight. This system has an Electric Vehicle mode which allows All-Wheel Drive motion using only the motor at start-up and low speed. When decelerating, the regenerating mechanism uses the motor as a power generator.
The ATC maybe a wagon that may slot in to Subaru line-up between the Liberty and Impreza. With the smaller size Subaru designers have installed a roof that is made of glass to make the cabin feel larger. Inside with see more techonolgy with a large monitor built into the steering wheel allows access to maps, television and internet.
The Advanced Tourer Concept is stunning looking vehicle and CarShowroom and lets hope not too much changer between the concept and production versions.
