Here’s a car worth the airfare to the Geneva Motor Show on its own – the all-new second generation Audi R8.
Headlined by a better V10 engine and improved Quattro all-wheel-drive system, the mid-engines Audi supercar strains the neck muscles with zero to 100km/h in juts 3.2 seconds.
That time is for the range-topper with 449kW on-tap or you can opt for a milder version with 397kW.
Underneath a new multi-material Audi Space frame makes great use of aluminium and carbon fibre to deliver better rigidity and weighs-in almost 100kgs lighter than the current model at 1454kgs.
Styling is evolutionary but clearly different with a flat, wider look and new LED headlights (a laser spot high-beam is optional).
Inside is the R8’s version of Audi’s virtual cockpit with digital displays.
Audi Australia will reveal local price and specs after the Geneva Show.
