It’s so fast, they didn’t have time to spell Nightmare right.

Tuning company Roush isn’t any stranger to anyone who’s even dabbed their toe into the world of aftermarket American performance, particularly those involving Ford and their Mustangs. Seriously, their Stage 3 kit can probably make a GT500 wince a little.

This time around, they’ve chosen to slightly different target within the Blue Oval’s portfolio to channel their energies at: the F-150. In many ways, it’s the most ideal platform from which to possess it with outrageous power and dynamic capability.

For one, and unlike the Raptor, it already comes with the 5.0-litre Coyote V8 as the standard engine option for certain variants, be it in regular cab or SuperCrew body configurations. From there, Roush charges about $20,000 US Dollars to fit all the upgraded components and tunes, unleashing a 4x4 ute with speed credentials to rival supercars.

The headline additions to the Nitemare include a Roush TVS R2650 supercharger and specific calibration work, a set of 22-inch alloys, Continental Crosscontact LX20 285/45R22 tyres, and their new sport suspension package with lower ride height.

There’s also some Roush-designed cosmetic bits strewn throughout, a new redesigned front fascia, and something called the USA Flag Graphic. Because America, of course. When finished, the F-150 is transformed into a 485kW sledgehammer with 827Nm and a supercharged temper that’s now able to reach 100km/h from rest in just under 4 seconds.

Or so that’s what the company claims.

Factors such as which body style is selected will have an effect on acceleration, surely, and the regular cab version is likelier to deliver on that sub-4 second rush more often than the larger and heavier SuperCrew.

All that said, Roush is still confident enough in the F-150 Nitemare’s capabilities that it sees fit to announce it to be the fastest-accelerating production pickup ever. And the best part is that even comes with a 3 year or 36,000 mile (around 58,000km) warranty.
