Well, Rolls-Royce hasn’t exactly said its new ‘drophead tourer’ will be a Wraith, but that’s the speculation following the British company’s announcement of an all-new open-top model due mid next year.
“We are currently developing an exciting and thoroughly contemporary interpretation of a pinnacle drophead tourer which will introduce even more discerning men and women to Rolls-Royce ownership,” revealed Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos.
Rolls-Royce added the new model is already undergoing prototype testing.
Rolls-Royce currently produces the Phantom model in sedan, coupe and convertible versions and the related Ghost sedan and Wraith coupe – hence, by joining the dots, a convertible version of the Wraith would seem to be the new car under development.
Of course the spectacular looking Wraith coupe has already broken new ground for Rolls-Royce with its distinctly sporty overtones and, to be honest, the logic of an open-top version has been obvious since its launch.
When it arrives we’re tipping we’ll be filing it under ‘S’ for ‘spectacular’
