Renault/Nissan And Mitsubishi Partner For New Product And Technology Development

A new global small car, including an electric version will be the first fruits of an expanded collaboration announced today between Renault/Nissan and Mitsubishi.

The new vehicles will be developed on a new ‘Kei Car’ platform (the compact car type popular in Japan). Currently the Nissan Dayz and Mitsubishi eK wagon  (both Kei cars sold in Japan) are the result of an existing collaboration between the two Japanese giants.

Now, in addition, we’ll see two new Mitsubishi sedan models developed from Renault products. The large ‘D’ segment vehicle will be produced at the Renault-Samsung plant in Korea (which already produces the Renault Fluence), while the manufacturing of the ‘C’-segment product hasn’t been finalized.
