The M5 ‘Pure’ at $185,000 is a definite bargain.

OK, you lose the ‘Competition Package’ so the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine delivers 412kW/680Nm, and the ride height and steering are standard.

And inside there are no sports seats are Alcantara highlights.

But in just about every other way this is an M5 and you’ve saved yourself around $45K – brilliant.

For those who reckon the M5 with the competition pack doesn’t go far enough you’ll need to move fast to secure one of the limited edition ‘Nighthawk’ or ‘White Shadow’ versions.

For these you’ll need $235,930 and the extras include 20-inch alloy wheels, Bang & Olufsen audio, some carbon-fibre interior trim highlights, glorious Merino leather, M sport seats, Alcantara headlining and s sunroof.
