Volkswagen dealer mates told us there were some angry responses to Volkswagen Group Australia’s plan to scuttle the excellent Scirocco R from the local model lineup.
Pleasingly the folk on ‘Mahogany Row’ at Volkswagen caved-in and there’s good news with the facelifted Scirocco R arriving with prices $2,000 less than the previous model.
That’s $45,990 for the manual and $48,490 for the auto.
Styling changes improve an already head-turning visual with sharper headlights, new bumpers, LED tail-lights and 19-inch alloy wheels from the Golf R.
Changes inside too with a new-look dashboard and steering wheel the highlights.
No changes under the bonnet – why would you with that superb 188kW/330Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre singing its song – however torque is now better served with that 330Nm delivered between 2400rpm and 5200rpm.
