Following the international debut of their all-new second generation 3008 crossover, Peugeot has pulled back the tarp from their more premium and mildly hotter GT variant and GT Line trim level.
For the moment, this new GT sits at the top of Peugeot’s 3008 model range and in addition to all the smaller touches to justify its more expensive price tag, will also come fitted with PSA’s 2.0-litre BlueHDi 180 turbodiesel engine.
Official power figures have not been released yet, but assuming the French marque has left the engine untouched from its tune in the diesel GT variant of the 308 hatch on which this car is based, the new 3008 GT could be boasting a rather potent 132kW and 400Nm. It is paired to a EAT6 six-speed automatic transmission.
From the outside, visual indicators to the GT’s higher position in the 3008 food chain are its unique 19-inch ‘Boston’ wheels that wear wider 235-section 50-series tyres, its ‘Coupe Franche’ dual colour paint finish, aluminium roof bars, chequered chrome front grille, dual exhausts, and wider wheel arches.
Inside, the 3008 GT features genuine aged-oak trim on the dashboard fascia, full grain leather accented flat-bottomed steering wheel with copper topstitching, multi-point massage functions for the driver’s seat that can is 8-way electronically adjustable and a panoramic glass roof with electric blind and blue ambient cabin lighting.
Of course, this being the new 3008, it debuts Peugeot’s newest evolution on the i-Cockpit layout (2.0) with digital displays replacing analogue instrument and in-car controls.
There is also i-Cockpit Amplify and Driver Sport functionality to alter the intensity of lighting, screen displays, configuration of the acoustic environment, release of delicate fragrances, and the possibility to have access to a multi-point massage setting on the driver seat (GT only), combine for a multi-sensory, high quality experience.
Peugeot also offers a GT Line trim level that presumably can be specified optionally for the rest of the 3008 models, adoring the car with 18-inch alloys, higher quality cabin materials, i-Cockpit 2.0, Driver Sport modes, and some fancier exterior trim as well.
Additionally, both the 3008 GT and GT Line gain standard features such as scrolling LED indicators, smartphone charging plate, 3D satellite navigation, and Peugeot’s Safety Plus Pack that includes ‘Active Blind Spot Detection’ (ABSD), ‘Lane Keeping Assistance’ (LKA), advanced ‘Driver Attention Alert’ system (DAA3) and PEUGEOT ‘Smartbeam Assistance’.
