October New Car Sales Toyota Number One But Hyundai Secures Number Two Ranking

Toyota’s all-new HiLux was Australia’s best-selling vehicle in October (3,339 sales), Corolla was the second-best (3,271 sales) as Australia’s leading automotive brand moved more than 72,000 sales ahead of its nearest rival with 166,617 vehicles sold so far this year.

But Hyundai scored the number two position for the month with sales of 9,003 vehicles – just 471 ahead of third-placed Mazda (8,532 sales).

The Hyundai i30 was our third best-selling individual model with October sales of 2,669.

Year-to-date Mazda is still number two with sales for the first 10 months of 94,509 which is 8,072 ahead of Hyundai’s tally of 86,429.

Holden was number four in October (8,088) and maintains fourth position overall with a year-to-date total of 84,916.

Ford had a strong October to be ranked number five with sales of 6,098 vehicles. Year-to-date Ford is our sixth best-selling brand with sales of 57,832 vehicles.

Overall, new car sales in October were 3.4 per-cent up on the corresponding month last year and year-to-date the total is 3.6 per-cent up on 2015 and we could yet beat the all-time sales record of 1,136,227 sales established in 2013.
