This handsome SUV is the new Ford Explorer which breaks cover next week at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
According to www.carshowroom.com.au sources this is one of the vehicle Ford Australia considered to replace the Territory when local production ceases.
However it seems that decision went in favour of another Ford SUV – the Edge.
We’ve not driven the Ford Edge, but we have driven the current model Ford Explorer and can report it is a phenomenally good SUV which would be a perfect replacement for the Territory.
Sure the old Explorer sold here many years ago wasn’t the world best car - but Ford has undergone massive product changes since then – think Mustang - and so has the Explorer.
In fact Ford Explorer sales have now topped more than 7.0-million vehicles, it’s the number one best-selling SUV in North America and is sold in more than 100 global markets.
If the Ford Edge does turn-out to be the Territory replacement it will need to be a cracking-good vehicle to beat the Explorer.
