Sharper prices and two versions of a new TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine highlight the new BMW Z4 roadster lineup.
The new turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant (code-named N20) is available with outputs of 135kW and 180kW.
Not only has the switch from six-cylinder engines delivered improved fuel consumption for the stylish BMW Z4, prices are down, with then entry-level Z4 sDrive20i under the luxury car tax threshold at $76,900 – that’s $9,300 less than the previous BMW Z4 sDrive23i. The BMW Z4 sDrive20i delivers 135kW/270Nm and returns combined cycle fuel consumption of 6.7l/100kms.
The other newcomer is the BMW Z4 sDrive28i which replaces the sDrive30i. With 180kW/350Nm on tap, the BMW sDrive28i is faster than its predecessor (zero to 100km/h in 5.7 seconds) and 21 per cent better for fuel consumption at 6.7l/100kms (combined cycle).
Both the BMW Z4 sDrive 28i and sDrive20i are available with six-speed manual transmissions or the new eight-speed automatic.
The new models go on-sale in November, but effective immediately, BMW has re-priced the Z4 sDrive35i to $107,500 and the range-topping sDrive35is to $120,500.
The new range is:
Z4 sDrive20i $76,900
Z4 sDrive28i $89,400
Z4 sDrive35i $107,500
Z4 sDrive35is $120,500
