Power is up by 5kW to 140kW and torque gets a 20Nm boost to 400Nm.
Compared to the engine in the previous 220d, weight has been pared by 2.0kgs, it’s also more refined and the operation of the fuel-saving auto start/stop system has been improved.
All of that translates into better performance – zero to 100km/h (with the eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission) cut to 7.0 seconds.
Improvements too for that eight-speed auto – a wider ratio spread enhanced electronic management and a vibration absorber (the latter part of a raft of refinement improvements).
But perhaps more importantly, it’s more efficient – fuel consumption down to 3.8l/100kms and exhaust C02 emissions down to 99grams per km.
