Styling changes for the M5 mirror the mid-life updates of the rest of the BMW 5 Series range – a revised front-end, new-design alloy wheels and new-design, thin LED tail-lights.

Inside there’s new leather, a new steering wheel design, larger centre console and some technology updates.

While torque of 680Nm is unchanged, the updated twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 boosts output from 412kW to 423kW.

The revised suspension set-up includes beefier damping and anti-roll bars and sees Competition Pack models sitting 10mm lower. There’s also revisions to the hydraulic steering and stability control systems as well as the Active M differential.
