Ask us to name the best van and people movers on the market and Hyundai’s iLoad and iMax will both be near the top of the list.
And now it’s update time for both with a swag of extra features adding to their already strong value-for-money proposition.
Externally there’s not too much to get excited about – new-design bumpers and a new colour-coded grille plus fog-lights and new 16-inch alloy wheels for the iMax – but inside there’s impressive new technology and safety.
All models gain side (thorax) airbags as standard and a rearview camera is standard in Liftback variants.
And diesel models fitted with the five-speed automatic transmission pickup cruise control (hooray that was our one criticism when we put an iMax diesel through the ultimate torture test – a family road trip from Melbourne to Sydney and back).
Inside, Hyundai has injected its van and people mover with some car-like luxury features including new instrumentation and upgraded steering wheel and gear-lever.
iMax also scores climate control air-conditioning up-front and the second and third rows retain their dedicated controls and roof-mounted vents.
On the infotainment front there is a seven-inch touchscreen which pleasingly displays the reversing camera image (have you even tried to reverse a cargo van when fully loaded?) and comes with Siri Eyes Free (iOS) and Google Now (Android) voice activation.
