Mitsubishi’s much-heralded i-MiEV electric hatchback has scored a four star rating after ANCAP standard barrier testing in Japan.
While not the highest five-star rating, ANCAP noted the i-MiEV comes standard with latest technologies including head-protecting side curtain airbags and electronic stability control.
ANCAP said many small, fuel-efficient cars do score a five-star rating in its barrier tests and urge manufacturers of zero-emission vehicles to push for a five-star standard.
