Mitsubishi Debuts Solar-Powered Recharge Station For EVs

Here’s an idea ideally suited to Australia’s climate – Mitsubishi Electric North America has unveiled a solar-powered electric vehicle recharging point at its headquarters in Cypress, California.

The charging station uses 96 photovoltaic modules to harness the sun’s power and convert it to electricity.
 


Mitsubishi says the station can simultaneously recharge up to four electric vehicles can even accommodate vehicles with various types of chargers and voltage requirements.

Of course the breakthrough with this technology is its zero-emissions status. The criticism of electric vehicles in Australia centers not on the vehicles but on our nation’s reliance on coal-powered electricity generation. 


“As electric vehicles’ popularity grows, we expect to see more charging stations at large employers, automobile dealerships, shopping centers and schools where cars can charge while people work, shop or study,” revealed Katsuya Takamiya, CEO of Mitsubishi Electric USA.
